TOLEDO, Ohio – Rachael Crucis recorded 19 digs in Purdue Fort Wayne’s 25-15, 25-20, 25-23 loss at Toledo on Saturday (Sept. 17) afternoon.
The Rockets took set one by 10 points. Crucis had four digs in the frame.
The ‘Dons called time trailing 10-6 in set two and responded by tying the game at 10. Iris Riegel had three kills in the 4-0 push. The Mastodons held a 15-13 lead before Toledo rallied back to win the set.
Set three was tight throughout. The ‘Dons were up 19-17 and 23-21 prior to the Rockets responding to finish the match in three. Purdue Fort Wayne had all three of their services aces in the final set with LonDynn Betts recording two.
Crucis had an ace to go with her 19 digs. Riegel finished with a team-high 11 kills. Sidney Schiller totaled seven kills.
Toledo improves to 7-4. The ‘Dons fall to 4-7.
Purdue Fort Wayne opens league play on Tuesday when Milwaukee comes to the Summit City. It will be a 6 p.m. first serve.
