THELMA M. HOFFMANN, 94, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, in her beautiful home. Born Oct. 20, 1927, in Peru, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Harold and Edna (Black) Eshelman. She graduated from Walton High School in 1945, and went on to become an RN after earning her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She also earned a degree in Mental Health Technology, Culinary Arts, and became an ordained minister. Thelma had two beautiful children, Marc Christian Ellis and Teresa Dawn (Ellis) Jones, both of whom preceded her in death. She was an avid gardener who grew plants of all kinds, and was known among her family for her skill in bringing plants back from the brink of death. “If you were privileged enough to have enjoyed her snickerdoodles or her pies, then you experienced her love, as cooking and baking were one of the many ways she shared her love.” Thelma is survived by her granddaughters, Leslie (Adam) Baron and Kelly Ellis; great-grandson, Jaxson; son-in-law, Doug Jones; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her children; and two sisters, Jo Ann Patty and Barbara Oliver. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne (IN 46835), with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022. Entombment at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, will follow the funeral service.
