The 50th Indiana High School Athletic Association girls golf state tournament continues this weekend with regional rounds.
Lake Central (Sandy Pines Golf Club) and East Noble (Noble Hawk Golf Club) will host regional rounds on Sept. 24 and 23 respectively. The top three teams and top two other individual scores will advance to next weekend’s state finals at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel.
The South Bend area has a strong group of golfers competing in this weekend’s regional rounds. Here is who to watch.
Jaiden Winters, New Prairie
Winters shot the top individual score at the LaPorte sectional at Beechwood Golf Club, finishing with an 84. Winters’ 40 on the front nine was the top score of all golfers in New Prairie’s sectional field.
Lauren Miskowicz, LaPorte
Miskowicz was the only other golfer in the LaPorte regional to shoot under 90, recording an 89, good for second overall. Miskowicz shot a sectional-best 43 on the back nine at Beechwood Golf Club.
Brianna Wolf, Glenn
Wolf had the second-highest score amongst individuals that did not qualify with their team, posting a 99 at Beechwood Golf Club. Wolf was the only Glenn golfer to stay under 100, posting a team-best 47 on the front nine.
Delaney Wade, Penn
Wade continued to dominate on the course, recording the top score, a two-over 74, at the Penn sectional, hosted at Knollwood Country Club in Granger. Wade, the only golfer in the field to shoot under 80, recorded one birdie in her sectional round.
Marley Dunham, South Bend Saint Joe
Dunham finished with the second overall score at the Penn sectional, recording a nine-over 81. Dunham recorded seven pars during her round, including four consecutive to begin the back nine at Knollwood Country Club.
Madison Hahn, Mishawaka Marian
Hahn recorded the third-best individual score at the Penn regional, finishing with a 10-over 82 at Knollwood Country Club. Hahn recorded four pars and one birdie to advance to this weekend’s Lake Central regional field.
Katherine Swain, South Bend Adams
Swain recorded the top score of individuals who did not qualify for regionals as a team, shooting a 17-over 99. Swain recorded no birdies and three pars in her sectional round to advance to the Lake Central regional.
Savannah Crussemeyer, Elkhart
Crussmeyer recorded the third-best score of individuals who did not qualify with their team at the Penn sectional, finishing with a 36-over 108. Crussmeyer recorded no birdies and two pars in her sectional round to advance to the Lake Central regional this weekend.
Clare Tobin, Penn
Tobin recorded the fifth-best overall score at the Penn sectional, shooting a 10-over 82. Tobin finished with seven pars in her round to advance to this weekend’s Lake Central regional field.
Jayden Flagg, New Prairie
Flagg finished with the fifth-best score at the LaPorte sectional, recording a 93 at Beechwood Golf Club. Flagg shot a 46 on the front and 47 on the back nine to advance to this weekend’s regional rounds.
